Description
Light one at dusk and watch what the amber does with it. The ribbing catches the flame, carries it down the length of the stem, and pools it in the wide domed foot — so the candle is lit at the top and the glass is lit all the way to the table.
Cordelia is a pressed-glass candlestick in honeyed amber, with vertical ribbing running the length of a turned, curvaceous stem and delicate embossed detail near the cup. She holds colour even unlit, and throws it across the cloth when the light comes from behind.
She takes a standard taper. Buy one for a bedside, or three at staggered heights for a table that means business.
Handmade glass, so bubbles, faint seams and small variations in the amber are part of the piece rather than faults in it.
